My mother's not getting any better

Physically, she's coming along, walking with a walker and with help from the therapists. Mentally, though, she seems to be slipping away from reality. Sometimes she's cheerful, sometimes grumpy, sometimes angry, but delusional almost all the time. We can be having a nice, normal, sane conversation, then all of a sudden she'll say something completely off the wall. It's very perplexing and sad for me. I hate to see her like this. She was always a strong, mentally sharp lady.

This is how she looked just a few years ago, and really up until her accident in July:

I may be jumping the season a bit

The photo I'm using for my header was taken in November, 2007. Now, in September, it is still warm here in south Alabama, USA, and the trees are still green. However, we have already had a few blessed days of cooler temperatures, and I am more than ready for this hot, humid summer to gently step away!

There was a refreshing breeze from the north this evening, and cooler weather is predicted for the next few early mornings. I'm looking forward to it!

Flowers for Nana

Flowers for Nana, originally uploaded by Fancy Horse.

My mother is convalescing from a fall and broken bones at a health and rehab center. My son and his bride sent her this pretty arrangement of flowers! She loves them! (The flowers and the grands)
