Recently returned from a trip to Alaska and Canada!
I am gradually putting pictures up on Flickr: Alaska and Canada vacation 2012
and will write a blog entry all about it as soon as I can (in the next few days, maybe next week).
Briefly, we had a wonderful time, and saw a lot of things we'll never see anywhere else, but it was a very tiring trip. Three days of cruising, then buses, trains, and boats in the inland of Alaska and the Yukon. We learned about the Gold Rush of 1898, gold panning dogsledding, Native Americans and First Nations, salmon, and mosquitoes. We saw bears, moose, Dall sheep, eagles, whales, and caribou/reindeer (did you know they are the same animal?) We ate bison stew and reindeer sausage (I would have felt better about that if it were called caribou sausage!)
We went with a group of eight from our community, and traveled with a group of 44 on our tour bus.

I've been enjoying your photographs on Flickr from the trip. It's not likely we'll ever get to see what you saw on our own trip to Canada and Alaska, so this is great to imagine ourselves seeing these sights. I call it armchair travels...
maedean, I'm glad you enjoying them!
