Driving while black

This is a link to a speech by Senator Tim Scott, R-S.C., on the Senate floor. Please listen to all of it; it is very moving and thought-provoking. In one year, he has been pulled over by police while driving seven times. He has been refused admittance to an event to which he was invited as a Senator.

Senator Tim Scott

Do I benefit from white privilege? When I compare Sen. Scott's experience with mine, I must say, "Yes, I do." In fifty years of driving, I can remember being pulled over and/or ticketed four times, and all were with reason - driving too fast or running a stop sign or red light. Four times in fifty years vs. seven times in one year. Yes. I do.
